So what’s this all about?

I’m sure that is the question everyone who stumbles upon this site is asking right now so I thought I would start this blog with a little information about myself, what I’m doing, and what you can expect from this site.  Hopefully by the end of this post you will be as excited to read this travel blog as I am to create it.

About Me

Travel Blog London Skyline from Primrose Hill
London skyline from Primrose HIll

First of all, my name is Chris and I am from Charlotte, NC, USA. For the last seven years I have been working at an office job and while it’s not a terrible job, I would not call it enjoyable.  I spend a lot of my days daydreaming about traveling the world so I decided to take a year off and do a working holiday in the place where I first got the wanderlust bug: Australia.

Some other interesting facts about me:

  1. I am 30 years old.
  2. I have a B.S. in Civil Engineering from NC State University (Go Wolfpack!)
  3. I am a huge fan of just about any sport, mainly Carolina Panthers, New York Yankees, Charlotte Hornets, and the aforementioned NC State Wolfpack. I’m looking forward to learning about some new sports as I travel the world!
  4. I am a bit of a nerd (see engineering degree) so I am a fan of nerdy tv shows such as Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, and Rick and Morty.

About the Travel Blog

I have been contemplating starting a travel blog for some time now and I’m finally taking the plunge.  The intent of this blog is to allow anyone interested to keep track of my adventures as well as a way to provide advice to others who are interested in traveling.  Since I’m starting with a working holiday in Australia, you can expect a lot of content related to Australia in the first year. After the year in Australia I intend to reevaluate the viability of running SuitcasesAndSkylines long term.  I expect that with the support of readers like you I will be able to run this blog for many years to come.

The most important asset of any successful blog is its readers and fans; with that in mind, please feel free to provide feedback at any time via the Contact Form or social media pages. It is very important to me that everyone who reads this blog is able to get the most out of it so if there is something you want to see covered please let me know.  I genuinely hope that you enjoy this blog and I look forward to bringing it to you.

Until next time, safe travels and keep chasing those skylines!
